Anzac day poppies

Today we researched Anzac poppies and this is what I found about poppies

Poppies

What is the meaning of poppies: poppies are flowers known for their bright colours and paperly petal poppies also symbolise  sleep peace and death

Fun fact:  poppies come in many different colours like white, vivid red, orange, cream, yellow, blue and purple

Where does the word poppy originate from

The noun is derived from Late Middle English poppy, Middle English popy, popi, popie. the English way to say poppy is  (“poppy”),…

What is the story behind poppy

The poppy is the enduring symbol of remembrance of the First World War. The poppy’s origin as a popular symbol of remembrance lies in the landscapes of the First World War.

What is the difference between the white poppy and the red poppy

The red poppy is worn in honour of the armed force and for the people who died. well the white poppy is distributed by the british. The white poppy is worn for peace.

Why do new zealanders wear poppies

The red poppy is a symbol of war remembrance. People in many countries  wear the poppy remembering those who went to war and died or are serving the air  force.

Why are poppies worn on Anzac day

Poppies are worn on Anzac day to remember those who went to war. The reason we remember  those who went to war with poppies is because the soldiers went to war. There was a battlefield filled with poppies.

Why do poppies grow on battlefields

Poppies grew well in the churned soil of the battlefields; the bombardment not only churned up the soil and brought seeds to the surface. The nitrogen of explosives helped fertilise the earth and gave poppies enough nutrients to grow and bloom.
